Bavarian Milk Churn

My daughter bought this for me at a recycling yard near Munich many years ago. It was my best bargain and cost only 5 deutchmarks...what a bargain. I undercoated it and then sprayed with racing car green cellulose paint.  It stands about 65cm.high.  I would never sell this but have decorated other ones from England. The flowers are painted with acrylics and then varnished.  They are all freehand as I do not like stencils and never use them.

  1. Where can you buy cellulose paint? Is it expensive? It gives a lovely smoothe base to paint on.

  2. I like the wisteria-like pattern on this piece and that it flows down the line of the urn. i also have a soft spot for a story and would have like to have known more of the history and process of this stuff. It changes how you see it.

Is there any chance you can get this across at WLPM with some 'work in progress' items or 'before and after' origin info too if it is interesting?

  3. Dear Julia, Thanks a lot for the comments and glad you liked the churn. I wish I could 'find' more of these but they are hard to come by unless I pay a silly price. This one is nicer than the english churns, though smaller. It came from a recycling centre in a village near Munich, where you can actually buy the things people throw away, a very good idea I think. I am in Munich twice a year as we have family there so love to have a good old snoop round. I actually don't know what you mean by WLPM but I shall ask Sue ( Little Imperfections)
I think i should start taking photos of all the 'befores'. I still find this blogging quite difficult and it takes me ages to do anything on computers. You all write so much and it seems so easy for you. Hope I improve.
No more painting today anyway, Bye, Julie
